Our impact
How we measure the difference we make — and how we report it to our funders, beneficiaries, and the public.
Our theory of change
We believe that when people learn to grow their own food using organic and traditional methods, a chain of positive outcomes follows: improved nutrition, better mental health, stronger community bonds, greater environmental awareness, and increased self-sufficiency.
Communities lack essential growing skills
Food poverty, diet-related ill health, and social isolation are rising — particularly in areas of high deprivation like Sandwell. Traditional growing skills have been lost across generations.
Hands-on workshops and growing spaces
We deliver permaculture and horticulture workshops led by qualified tutors, create communal growing spaces, and run educational programmes for schools, families, and care homes.
People learn practical skills
Participants complete workshops with demonstrable skills in organic growing, permaculture design, seed saving, composting, and sustainable food production.
Lives and communities improve
Participants grow their own food at home, eat more healthily, experience improved mental wellbeing, form new social connections, and become more environmentally conscious.
Resilient, self-sufficient communities
Communities become more food-resilient, less dependent on processed food, more connected, and better equipped to live sustainably — passing these skills to the next generation.
How we measure impact
We use a combination of quantitative and qualitative methods to track our impact and ensure we're delivering meaningful outcomes for our beneficiaries.
Participant surveys
Pre- and post-workshop assessments measuring skills gained, confidence levels, and intended behaviour change.
Follow-up tracking
We follow up with participants 3 and 6 months after workshops to assess whether skills are being applied at home.
Case studies
In-depth stories from beneficiaries documenting their journey and the impact of our programmes on their lives.
Output monitoring
We track workshop attendance, beneficiary demographics, volunteer hours, and growing space usage to monitor delivery.
Reports & accounts
Our annual reports and independently examined accounts are filed with the Charity Commission and publicly available. We believe in full transparency with our funders, beneficiaries, and the public.
